Portraits & Apple Cider | Mini Sessions

Oct 31, 2017

One day I brought the idea of mini sessions up to Caleb with a problem I needed to fix. I didn't like the quick five minute transition in which I have to say goodbye to one family, and greet the other in time to start a new session. I had no time to chat casually after the sessions! I like to get to know the people I am taking pictures of, thank them for choosing me (which is ALWAYS an honor), and learn something about them! I chose for my business to be my name because I wanted there to always be a personal connection between me and the people I am photographing. From getting that email back from me, to all my posts on facebook and instagram, taking your photos, and editing your photos... every step of the way you are communicating with ME! I am not a studio, I am one person who loves what she does. One of my favorite parts of what I do is meeting new people and making new friends, but the old way of doing mini sessions was not allowing me to do that!!

Caleb came up with this idea of us supplying a warm drink on a cold day after each session. Atlas, Portraits & Hot Cocoa was born last year! Caleb is my assistant on these days ;) Greeting people, on call for directions, pouring the hot cocoa, and taking pictures of me... he's the best!

We were SO excited to offer our first Fall Mini Sessions of Portraits & Apple Cider last weekend! We had incredible weather in the 70s on both days, the leaves were gorgeous, and everyone's mini sessions turned out amazing! I am so grateful for all the new people that chose to have me photograph them during this season of life. I had a newly engaged couple, a newly married couple with their adorable doggies in bow ties, a couple announcing a PREGNANCY (ahhh!!), and tons and tons of wonderful families with kids ranging from toddlers to older teenagers! It was such a rush meeting 42 new people total last Saturday and Sunday. Caleb and I truly enjoyed chatting with everyone after each session over a cup of Apple Cider! We even had candy corn for the kiddos (and some of the adults, too!)

Almost every time after the sessions, we find we have something in common, or that we know the same people! It's a GREAT time meeting so many new people and actually getting a chance to have conversations! I LOVE our new idea for mini sessions and I can't wait to offer Portraits & Hot Cocoa once again this January or February! Keep an eye out! Also, be sure to let me know if you'd be interested in a Portraits & Lemonade come spring and summer!

Thank you, once again, to all the families who came out last weekend. I enjoyed meeting each and every one of you, and I appreciate you all for choosing me to document your family during this unique time! Can't wait to see you again soon! <3
