Engagement | Scott & Kelsey
Nov 9, 2017
Everyone has a fake cousin or two right? Or maybe a fake aunt or uncle? Your families are close enough that you might as well be family and as kids you didn’t know otherwise. You grew up not thinking anything about this and then one day you find out you aren’t actually, really, completely related at all… but yet you know them better than some of your real family members, so you proceed to call them Aunt Kathy (because respect) and Fake Uncle Dan (because funny), and don’t forget about Distant Fake Cousin Tim and Jessica. I won’t even begin to describe the multiple family tree lines that blurred in this unique case. But what I do know is that Distant Fake Cousin Tim and Distant Fake Cousin Jessica have this really great REAL cousin named Kelsey. And Kelsey has this really great REAL fiance´ named Scott.
Kelsey, Scott, and I got together at Tillman Nature Preserve in Clarence, NY just outside of Buffalo. This is one of my favorite locations because it has such a wide variety of scenes and it looks different every time you go! I’m so glad we chose this location and had the sun out on our gorgeous fall evening.
Scott and Kelsey will be saying “I do” this summer at The Foundry Suites. Their wedding is high on my list to look forward to for many reasons! But mostly, because of the special people involved. This bride and groom are incredibly trusting, caring, and respectful! Plus a ton of fun! And remember my fake family? Fake Uncle Dan is officiating the ceremony. Distant Fake Cousin Jessica is a bridesmaid and Distant Fake Cousin Tim is a bridesman! Love the nontraditional elements involved in this wedding!
Plus, if Scott and Kelsey looked this amazing for their engagement photos, I can't WAIT to see how much fun we will have creating wedding portraits together!
A note to other brides and grooms planning your special day. Traditions were put in place for a reason… so that everyone who wants a cookie cutter wedding can have one. They are simply there to ignore if you are unique compared to the person sitting next to you. Are you? Great! Don’t be afraid to allow your wedding to reflect you, your love, your story. Your wedding is yours and no one else’s.
I can’t wait to watch Scott and Kelsey’s wedding story unfold into their own. It’s gonna be great.
