Congratulations Kyle and Amanda!
I’m pretty sure my heart skipped a beat when I received Amanda’s email about a fairly small wedding in Saratoga Springs, New York. A place I’ve always wanted to visit, but have always drove right on by on our way to the Adirondacks multiple times a year.
I could tell from our first meeting that Amanda was going to be one of the most pleasant brides to work with. She was excited and on top of things, but so laid back and expressed multiple times how she trusts me with decisions. I knew Kyle and Amanda’s wedding was going to be a joy to be a part of and I was not wrong!
The day started in a historic downtown Saratoga Springs hotel. It was a charming boutique hotel full of character at every turn.
I met up with Kyle at the famous Congress Park, a short walk away from the Adelphi Hotel. Here, we were greeted with many “congratulations”, kind stares from on-lookers, and… ducks!
The emotional first look started off an enjoyable time wandering the park for bride and groom portraits. Aren’t they the cutest!?
We actually headed into Albany for Kyle and Amanda to exchange vows at a church that is special to the family.
Kyle and Amanda found the coolest space for their non-traditional reception. It was back on Broadway in downtown Saratoga Springs above an unassuming mexican restaurant. The windows opened up wide for views of the quaint village… the sun was shining, the sidewalks full of people and dogs, and the party was starting!
As the sun was setting, I got the idea to see if Kyle and Amanda wanted to stand in the middle of the street… I knew they would be down for anything! See that white building with the columns in the background to the right? That’s the hotel they got ready at in the morning!
Now, see the people dining at the outdoor tables on the right? They are eating at the mexican restaurant. The reception was held on the second floor there!
Amanda and Kyle were so warm and welcoming to me. They even stopped to say hi the next day when we ran into each other! I loved this little destination wedding, Caleb and River loved tagging along (this was River’s first trip), and I loved documenting this beautiful day. I can’t count how many times one of the family members or guests of the wedding came up to me and said something along the lines of, “I heard you were from Buffalo! Pretty special that Amanda brought you all the way for this.” I wholeheartedly agree. <3
